Saturday 6th August 2011 - Home - Bath 'A'
This was always going to be a tough game against top of the league team Bath 'A' , and until the later stages of the game we were in a position to at least take 4 points from this game, but it was not to be. At the end of the game we were 5 shots adrift but more importantly we went down on two rinks, thus only picking up the two points. But this maintains our position in the league even if it is a bit on the precarious side!

Wow, what a nail biter of a game. Both teams were anxious to win this game to ease their relegation worries, and this game lived up to it's billing.
On rink 1, despite dropping a three on the last end, Darrell guided his team to a comfortable victory. On rink 3 John Davies was out fired by his opposing skip, who's weighted deliveries turned the game. Which left Barry Taylor in the middle rink, who with 4 ends to play was two shots down, but in the last 3 ends they picked up 5 shots to win their rink and draw the game

Was it the miserable weather in the morning? Was the blocked M5 with players turning up just as the match was due to start?
We will never know, but one thing is for sure, it did not go to plan.
Well beaten on two rinks with John Davies and his rink fighting a rearguard action to claim Banwell's two points.
Survival is still very much in the air

A good day for the league 'A' team. With survival in the Premier league 1 uppermost in everyone's thoughts, this was a match that Banwell had to win to be sure of another season in the top league. And win we did!!
A splendid performance from skip Darrell Johnston and his rink and a gritty draw from Tony Steer and his rink ensured that the points were in the bag.
A good result all round - Well done everyone

A very close game in which the result could have gone one way or the other.
Rink of the day was the rink skipped by Alan Vickery - after 10 ends they were 10-1 down, but fought back to win by 7 shots and take the game for the 'B' team as the only winning rink. The other two rinks "Kept in Touch" and were unfortunate to lose by a couple of shots.

This was yet another tough game, but one which Banwell 'B' took in their stride. Outstanding rink of the day was the rink skipped by Paul Aldus who finished their game 15 shots ahead to ensure Banwell kept their unbeaten record. The other two rinks were unlucky to go down by just one and two shots respectively. A satisfactory result.

Saturday 18th June 2011 - Yatton - Away
This was a game we had hoped to win to keep our unbeaten record, but it was not to be. We lost on 2 rinks and won on just the one.
Highlight of the match - Rink 2 disastrously dropped a 5 on the 20th end and it looked all over, but on the 21st end Yatton were holding shot wood with Banwell surrounding it with four seconds.
Captain Kim Burgess was told to come in with his last wood, rest the shot wood out and stay and we would hold five.
Result: He came in "Sweet as a nut" - rolled the shot wood out and stayed - 5 shots in the bag - mission accomplished - jubilation from rink 2

This game did not go according to plan, but Banwell did win 2 rinks with a polished performance from rink 3, and a gutsy fight back on rink 1.
But rink 2 faded badly dropping some 14 shots over the last 5 ends.
This result drops us back to 4th position in the league

A first class win all round. Special mention must go to Johnny Keith on his rink's outstanding win (33 shots to 9) . But top of the "WOW" list must go to Hilary Guckian and his rink. At 8 ends they were 15 shots to 0 down and looked dead and buried. But they fought back and picked up one shot on the last end to win their game. Great stuff lads!

We went into this game needing 4 points to ensure promotion. And emerged with a fine 10 to 2 points victory.
Mind you it was not all plain sailing - Captain Kim Burgess and his rink stormed to a fine win and Alan Victory and his rink, despite dropping a 7 on the 19th end, pulled off a one shot win.
An excellent season for the 'B' team who now look forward to stiffer opposition in the North 1 league next season.

Well it could be argued that this may be a taste of what is to come when we start in the North 1 League.
But it could also be said that we were well beaten by a polished and strong Bristol 'B' side, who finished the season unbeaten.
Who knows. A crushing defeat on the day, which saw us drop down to third position. But on the plus side, WE WERE PROMOTED .
WELL DONE BANWELL 'B' ON A VERY SUCCESFUL SEASON.
